Hajime is furious at seeing everyone around him gain these insane powers while being left with a skill that seems completely useless. Rather than getting disheartened about this, Hajime works tirelessly to get stronger and become better than those around him.
The entire class enters a dungeon on a mission and falls into its depths. A significant incident while they are down there splits Hajime from the ground. A powerful monster attacks the class, and knowing he is useless in battle, Hajime distracts the beast to save his classmates.
Hajime uses his powers to transmute the floor into spikes, saving his classmates in the process. Once his classmates are on safe ground, they try to save Hajime with coverfire, but it worsens things. Their attempt to save Hajime destroys the bridge he is standing on.
Hajime almost makes it to safe ground after grabbing onto some rocks but ends up falling after another magical attack hits him and the monster. The class presumed that Hajime fell to his death, but unbeknownst to them, Hajime survived.
Blessed by some insane luck, Hajime is alive but has entered a deeper part of the dungeon. Here, he is faced with high-level monsters he needs to overcome. The time he takes to hone his skills and train makes Hajime go through a massive transformation. Gone is the friendly and kind Hajime, and a completely different, utterly ruthless, and more powerful man is forged in these dark dungeons.
